Hawks Loses A Close One: 36-34
Coming back from a two week break since our last game, we wanted to make sure we started off strong on both sides of the ball. The boys played a great defensive game holding a good shooting team to only 36 points. On offense our boys only shot 26 percent from the field (12 for 46), one of our lowest for the season. The game was close throughout the whole game. Langley started out the game pressing us which led to a fast pace, up and down first quarter. In the second quarter Langley changed their game plan and started to play zone. This forced us to slow the ball down and run through our sets. With the poor shooting and 18 turnovers we struggled to score points throughout the rest of the game. Langley held us to only 20 points from the second quarter on.
At one point during the fourth quarter we were up by 8 with four minutes to go. With sloppy play by us Langley quickly came back and took the lead by one with under a minute left to go in the game. Langley was up by 2 with 25 seconds left to go; we miss a three pointer that would have put us up by 1. We were forced to foul and put them on the line for a “1 and 1”. The Langley player missed and we called a quick timeout that left 2.3 second on the clock. When the ball was put back into play after a full timeout, our forward Kennedy threw a long ball down to freshman guard Jalen who got a shot up, from 10 feet from the basket, in time but bounced off the rim twice.
