JV Hawks soar high over JV Jaguars!
The JV Hawks rebounded from their devastating buzzer beating loss to Edison, by steamrolling the Jaguars of Falls Church HS. The game was never in doubt, as the Hawks soared to a 19-1 first quarter lead. The Hawks added another 19 points the second quarter to take a commanding 38-6 lead into the half. The Jaguars were powerless to stop the Hawks, giving up 41 points in the second half, enroute to a 79-15 drubbing.
The JV Hawks were led by Ben Kim and Nana Owusu, each dropping in 14 points a piece. Overall the Hawks shot 9-16 from 3 point range. Tyler Seelman continued his strong freshman campaign, adding 10 points on 4 of 8 shooting. Steve Lynch, one of our 2 sport athletes (football too), had his best game of the year hitting 5 of 6, and scoring 10 points. Brandyn Marshall, chipped in 6 points, and blocked his first shot of the year. Speaking of blocks, Isaiah Glasby returned from illness, to have his most effective game, swatting 4 shots, and tallying 3 assists, along with 7 boards, and 2 points. The leading scorer, in the Edison game; Sam Angeli, struggled early, but finished with 7 points and 6 rebounds. Baz Biniam came in and added solid relief at the point, scoring his first 4 points of the season, and added 4 assists.
Other contributers included: Kelechi Adoma shooting 2 for 2 from the line, and snagging 4 steals. Nate McShay got some much needed rest, after playing most of the previous 4 games, and nailed a 3 pointer in the first quarter. Garrick Short returned from missing the Edison game to grab a team high 8 rebounds and block 2 shots. Barry Coleman again added much needed defensive intensity, pestering their ball handler in the second quarter, stealing the ball 3 times, while getting his hand on many more. He finished with 2 points as well.Anthony Wilson again anchored our starting five, despite often giving up several inches to the taller forwards and centers. He finished with 5 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists.
The Hawks play again tomorrow, vs. Washington & Lee. Please come out and squawk for your hawks!
