GAME SUMMARY
JV Hawks just miss versus TC Williams! The boys JV basketball team played one of their best games of the year, only to just miss beating the favored TC Williams. TC had beaten many of their previous opponents, by as much as 25 points, but the Hawks of Hayfield game them everything they could handle. TC started the game by taking Hayfield lightly, and almost paid the price, as the JV Hawks buried 6 three pointers in the first half, en-route to a 2 point halftime lead. TC, who had been down by as many as 7 in the second quarter, closed the half on a 7 point run. The Hawks continued their impressive game into the third quarter, only to have their wings clipped in the decisive 4th, when Hayfield was outscored by 10, (14 to 4). Many of the young hawks played inspired ball, including reserve guard Brandyn Marshall, who shot 3 for 3 from downtown in the first half, scoring a career high 9 points. AJ Flaviano also had a very good game, often matching Brandyn, shot for shot, in the first half. AJ finished with 10 points, and played outstanding defense. Other key contributers, included leading scorer Davonte Johnson, who had a balanced game with 8 points, 3 assists, 2 steals, and a block (his third in three games). Josh Eldridge rebounded with a solid effort, chipping in with 6 points and 4 rebounds. The JV Hawks will next oppose their crosstown rivals, the Stallions of South County, on Friday, January 23rd at 5:45, here at Hayfield. We need all Hawk supporters to come out and "squawk for their hawks"!!
