JV HAWKS STILL PERFECT, CRUISE PAST WAKEFIELD BY 18 The JV Hawks outscored Wakefield by 19 over the second and third quarters, to push their win total to 13, defeating the Warriors on the road 70-52. The Hawks again started out slow, falling behind early, prior to finding their glide pattern. The Hawks also struggled from the FT line, missing on 11 of their 15 trips to the charity stripe. However, the Hawks defensive presence, and full time up-tempo offense overwhelmed their opponent again. The Hawks were led by SG Kyle Phox (12pts, 2asts, 1stl) who scored ¼ of the total points scored by the Hawks during the 42-23 run between the second and third quarters. Aiding Phox, was G/F Eddy Biniam (8pts, 3rebs) who swished 2 three pointers during the decisive third. Reserve PG Mikey Rhinehart (3pts, 2asts) hit his first “3” of the year, and F Aaron Jeter (4pts, 5rebs, 2asts, 2stls, 1blk) made a big splash in his JV debut (Jeter was called up from the Fresh Hawks). Other notable contributions included: PF Mike Cobbs (10pts, 5rebs) reached double figures for the 4th straight game, and SG Corey Hernandez (9pts, 1stl) led the charge in the 4th quarter, scoring 7 of the Hawks 19 points. Hernandez was also the only Hawk to hit FT’s in the game, sinking 4-6.
