JV HAWKS TAKE TIME TO WARM UP, OVERPOWER GENERALS BY 5 The JV Boys team remained undefeated, winning their 12th straight game, on an afternoon, when nothing was working in their favor for the first 24 minutes of the game. The JV Hawks trailed by 8 at halftime, (marking the second game in a row that they had to comeback from halftime deficits ), and still remained behind by 5 points at the end of three quarters. Finally in the last quarter, their two main front court options got rolling. Sophomore PF Mike Cobbs (10pts, 3rebs,1blk) scored all but 2 of his points in the final frame, while his front court mate SF Tyler Hodge (12pts, 10rebs) added 6 points of his own. Added to the mix were 3 made free throws by PG Ralf Bansil (11pts, 2rebs), and a three pointer by defensive specialist Jordan McIntyre (3pts, 1stl). The Hawks used an 20-10 fourth quarter run to reverse the score, and defeat the Generals by 5 points. Other notable contributions included: Reserve SF Bryce Williams (2pts, 1reb) scored his first basket of the year, on a beautiful jump shot from the right wing, while SG Corey Hernandez (11pts, 2rebs, 2stls) continued his hot shooting from beyond the arc (3 for 6 in this game), which brings his average “down” to 64% (9-14) for the season. Sophomore G/F Nicholas Grant (4pts, 6rebs, 3stls, 2asts) became the 6th player on the Hawks to have 11 or more steals on the season. The JV Hawks currently average 12.3 steals per game.
