GAME SUMMARYHAWKS PUSHED TO BRINK BY MAJORS, PREVAIL IN OT The JV Boys of Hayfield Secondary had to comeback against their National District opponent from Mt. Vernon HS to remain undefeated, using overtime to do so. The Hawks were trailing by 7 after three quarter, but outscored the Majors 16-9 in the 4th, to pull even as time expired. That last basket was scored by sophomore SG Kyle Phox (2pts, 3asts, 3stls), his only field goal of the game. His late heroics pushed the game into an extra frame, where the Hawks were too much for Majors, limiting them to two field goals (5 pts total). The Hawks made it interesting though, as they struggled at the FT line, shooting just 5-14 in OT. In the end, the Hawks had just enough, and now stand at 11-0. Notable Hawks contributions: Forwards Tyler Hodge (18pts, 8rebs) and Mike Cobbs (16pts, 5rebs) combined to score 34 of their teams’ 59 points including each having one of the two field goals scored in OT. The player of the game however had to be PG Ralf Bansil (7pts, 6rebs, 6asts, 5stls), who snared 3 offensive rebounds (6 total), stole 5 balls, and deflected 2 others, and is averaging 4.6 steals and 4.75 assists per game, while only averaging 2.0 turnovers per game.
